There are many cultural festivals involving New York City's museums occuring throughout the year. A couple of the major ones are listed below:
Museum Mile Festival: One of New York City's most significant cultural traditions. In the past two decades, well over one million people have taken part in this annual celebration. Festival attendees can walk the Mile from 82nd Street to 104th Street and visit nine of New York City's finest cultural institutions open free that evening to the public. Participating museums include the Guggenheim, the Jewish Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and El Museo del Barrio. For more information, call 212-606-2296 or visit Museum Mile Festival.
Fleet Week: Hosted by Intrepid Sea-Air Space Museum, this is a week long "invasion" of Navy and Coast Guard Ships, aircraft carriers and personnel. Call 245-0072 for info, or visit the Intrepid Museum website.
For more information, visit NYC and Company.
